Dear family of an Our Community club participant:
One of our club themes this session has been Clarks Summit’s Welsh history, and we’d like to send letters to elementary school students in Clarks Summit’s sister city, Ystradgynlais, in Wales.
If your child would like to participate, please read on and return the permission slip you should have received by next week’s club, March 30.
Your child could write, draw, or craft a short note or letter introducing themselves and perhaps their family to a child in Wales. In club, we learned a bit about our regions’ shared histories of coalmining, Welsh families settling in our area, and even a few Welsh words. Including some of this might be useful in explaining why students from our area want to write students in Wales particularly.
Anything you want to send needs to fit into a 5¾- by 8¾-inch envelope. Feel free to include a photo or drawing, but anything must be bendable to comply with postal regulations. Please have your child bring anything they’d like to send to Kids Club on March 30 (perhaps in a folder or other envelope, so nothing gets lost.) We’ll have envelopes addressed to a school in Wales (we’re still working on getting the right address information.)
Please email us or contact us through Remind if you have any questions.
